Transmission Clunk TSB L-SB-0042-25

This is great hearing positive updates to the re-flash. Did you need to bring it in for both a diagnostic eval and then schedule a service time to leave it with them?

Has anyone gotten the update from Toyota for their transmission and if so, did it make any difference?

Did you not read a couple messages above your post?

Also, not sure if you meant Lexus, or if you truly meant getting the TSB from a Toyota Dealership.

Maybe @Southland53 didn't realize this thread is 2 pages .

I made my appointment for tomorrow. I was planning to DIY my hood flutter foam, but since I am bringing it in I may as well get that addressed too. Wish me luck, bros.

Good think you're not doing the hood yourself. Mine was done at the dealer months ago and the first one at that location. They ended up breaking a tab on the cowl end (which they replaced) and had a dent in the center of the hood after the job. Which they also fixed... So don't attempt to fix the hood yourselves!

I had my service appointment to evaluate the shift harshness today. Described the issue and shared the TSB number. They reviewed and reflashed the in about 1.5 hrs. Drives and shifts at slow speeds much better. Seems to do more rev matching when going from 2 to 1. A notable improvement worth the time for the update IMO.

I just booked an appointment for 8:30 AM on Monday for the transmission update. We're going on a long trip to northern AZ Monday afternoon through Thursday so it will be great to see what difference this makes!

I just had mine done yesterday and day and night difference so far! Much smoother especially from second to first! Very happy we finally got this much needed update! Everyone with 2024 models really should schedule and get this done!

Update 3:
So I’d say it is better when it pertains to the weird double jump stop.
But…
Anyone kinda notice the random harsher shifts during accelerations? 😭😭😭😭😭😭 feels a little hesitant 😐

I personally have not. What mode are you driving in? Economy can perhaps make sense - I think this mode is best suited for the highway and not stop & go traffic...

Update: still smooth. A side effect, I can now cruise on the highway! Used to always downshift or stay high rev when releasing gas, now I’m getting 21mpg from 16! Everyone update if you’re clunky!! lol

@buhraion This is wonderful. Are you still seeing MPG gains?

Anyone else seeing MPG gains after the update?

I started at 16, right after I was around 20-21, settled around 18.6. Every refill now shows >310 miles? When before it was like 298.
I’ll take every mile 🤣
