TRD/ cat back exhaust (1 Viewer)

I have been waiting for this 17.5% off deal. It was 20% in previous years, though. Anyway, picked up the catback too so we can be twinzies @jclaffee . Btw, this is from Keyes Lexus in Sherman Oaks, CA. The trick for the best price is to go to parts.lexus.com, search your part #, enter your zip code to view more dealers, and go down the list to see which one has the best price in your area. You can also order for pickup to save money but a lot of dealers are offering free or discounted shipping right now.

They cancelled my order due to a "pricing error." Bummer.

It is bolt-on so I don't anticipate any troubles installing it myself in my driveway. I have a motorcycle jack with a big platform I can use to lift it into place. Not including digging out my tools, I bet I can do this job in less than an hour, but I will keep you posted.
I read the install is straight forward and you would need to reuse some of the original seals. Good luck with this project and take some clips of the new soundtrack!

Dealer selling me my car wants $4086 to for TRD exhaust. That includes tax & installation.

If the exhaust is $2270 or about $2450 after tax, sounds like an install quote of $1636.

Curious if you think sounds fair?

Also won’t roll into loan so wanting cash to do it…
That is a crazy price. Buy the OEM part kit. I recommend getting a quote from Lexus of Wesley Chapel in Florida. They are happy to ship. I've have nothing but great things to say about this dealership parts department. If you don't want to do the install yourself you can take it just about anywhere. $1636 labor? Thats just insane. Good luck.

I have the catback exhaust on my GX and had posted a cold start video in one of the facebook groups a while back. It sounds nice. It does drone on and on and on which I've gotten used to. I also think it seems to get better now that I have about 2K miles on the car.

Ugh, the drone comment isn't encouraging.

That’s ridiculous, get this one instead

Would you like to trade your TRD exhaust for a stock exhaust?

I orderd the parts from Bell Lexus, incuding the hardware kit that I probably don't need since I can re-use the existing stuff. Here's the cost, and I found out they are having a July 4th sale and offereng another 17% (~$325) off.

Thanks! Ordered from Bell. $1721 with local pick up. Wonder if NYTOP dump fits this TRD mid-pipe (if not loud enough, gives a plan B).

Got my TRD exhaust today from Temecula Valley Lexus. Of course it was banged to hell by UPS but I dont mind the scratches too much since its going to be under my vehicle. They also only charged me $38 for shipping which is super cheap for two oversized and heavy items.

I was surprised to find that the hardware kit was included with the new center pipe so it does not need to be purchased separately.

Had this installed today while some other stuff was being done. They charged me 1.25 hrs for labor, so it must have been pretty straight forward. I've only driven it 5-6 miles, so the jury is still out. First impression: It's definitely louder. I think it sounds noticably better from outside. But inside it's a little boomy or droney (I have the enhanced exhaust sound feature completely turned off). I'll give it a month to decide whether to go back to the stock exhaust.

PS: I got on the throttle for a stretch on the way home, and when I came to a red light I was engulfed in a cloud of smoke. Apparently there's some significant protective coating or assembly lube that's burning off!

Thanks for sharing! I went back and forth on TRD, NYTOP, and Magnaflow. I landed with Magnaflow just on the fact that they advertised a "drone reduction" capability in their product. We will see if that's true. Parts are on backorder from Magnaflow for 5 weeks, so I'm scheduling the installation for the end of August.

For those wondering about difficulty of installation, the pipes did not come with any instructions and the box refers you to TIS, which I am too cheap to buy a subscription for. However, I did find the PDF instructions for the 4 Runner TRD exhaust, primarily for the torque specs. This should give you an idea of how easy it is and the tools required: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...4QFnoECCkQAQ&usg=AOvVaw1AHD_Uumy8LD23LQwrHSgC

I plan to tackle it this weekend.

Drone may be subjective? My last few cars have been a v8. I prefer some noise when driving. Will report back, this gets installed on Tuesday.

I'll be curious to know what you think after you've driven it. I love the sound of a V8 with a nice exhaust. This isn't anything like that. I kept the stock pipes, so I'll give it a while longer. But if I was forced to make a choice today, the TRD would be on Craigslist and the stock exhaust would go back on.
