Beatsonic Sigma Amplifier for Premium Sound system (4 Viewers)

I'll be interested to hear how these work out for you guys.

The sound system is my biggest let down with my GX so far.

My old Xterra had a stock Rockford Fosgate that blew the doors off compared to the GX.

It's arrived....will try to get this installed tonight.

Wow. This definitely levels up the sound. The videos will go up sometime later this week, but the initial impression is that does sound a lot better. It could be just in my head, but I swear I heard instrument highlights that I had never heard before listening to the same song. I am not an audiophile by any means but adding this brought a big smile to my face.

Is it worth $800? I’m slightly torn. I don’t plan on upgrading any speakers and wanted to push the stock system as much possible and this does it.

I used to listen at 30 and now I am content at 20 with more clarity and depth. I also did a video showing how it sounds now with the speakers faded all the way to the rear.

Would I have been happier if this was $600? Of course but I don’t regret the purchase at all. If you would rather not spend the money to replace the whole system, I think this is the next best thing you could install to improve the sound in your GX. Not cheap for what it is, but it brings the smiles if you think the stock system is lacking.

I’m in So Cal (Pasadena or Van Nuys) for any locals that want to hear it before they buy.

Some quick tips for install
  • Your hands will get mangled under the carpet. The plastic pieces are sharp!
  • play with the latch on the beatsonic harness to see how the mechanism works so you know how to remove the stock plug from the stock amp.
  • when installing the harness, connect to the stock amp first before connecting the harness to the stock cable.
  • tilt the seat forward (against the steering wheel) to access the bottom of the seat to mount the amp. It was near impossible for me to do anything with the seat flat.

Ok. I couldn’t help it. Here is one comparison. The stock volume was done at 35. The Beatsonic sample was done at 25, and was still louder than the stock. The highs are coming out harsh on the video and it is not so in real life. All audio settings in the car were set to neutral and surround was off. I’m just using an iPhone with no special equipment.

There are certain details in the music that stand out more with Beatsonic sample but I’m not sure if it’s just a factor of it being played louder. Regardless, it handles higher volumes with no distortion.

Let me know if the videos don’t work. YouTube might take them down for copyright issues since I used Hotel California.

Stock (vol set at 35)

Beatsonic Sigma amp (vol set at 25)

Appeciate the post and feedback! I will probably purchase the amp also after hearing this. How long did it take for you to install it and wrap everything up? Was it difficult replacing the speakers in the dashboard?

Thanks again!

The speakers in the dash were a 2 out of 10 difficulty. Only thing is that someone on here (or the LC250 page) 3d printed me speaker adapter rings and I bought the below speaker harness adpaters so I didn’t need to cut/splice anything. The kicker speakers have different screw mounting locations and are a bit taller in height.

Awesome review, thank you for posting!

Does anyone know what the stock speakers are for the basic GX550 sound system? Are they quality speakers, or just OEM crap? Is it worth it to replace them?

My main beef with this stock, base stereo is the relatively small full-range rear door speakers down at foot-level. I have 10 and 7 year old boys and I teach them daily about good music (mainly "classic" rock). How are they supposed to learn properly if they don't have high-quality music piped-in right next to their rear seats? The stereo sounds like muffled crap from the back seats. I would like to have quality woofers at the bottom of all 4 doors and quality full-range or mid-range higher on each door like the ML system.

Beat me to it...maybe the stock Class D amp has something to do with this Beatsonic amp being a little more expensive. I have to check again, but I think this is either engineered and/or built in Japan so there are maybe some tariffs on getting these here.

The drive to work this morning was great. For a couple songs, I didn't even notice the NYTOP exhaust or the wind noise anymore.

Here's the thread about the Kicker speakers - Upgrading speakers in base 10-speaker stereo
