VF Tuner ECU/TCU Tuning for the GX550

If it's the CAN cable, It's hard enough to get it installed the first time around, but installing and removing it a couple times certainlyincreases the risk that one of the wires in the wire loom will snap (ask me how I know). Once that CAN cable is installed behind the dash, plan to keep it there until you no longer want a tune.

I didn't do the trans TSB either (I had the earlier VFtune TCM tune and never had any issues) and am just as happy with the new TCM tune.

I want to help out CTRprelude with the tune …. And yes it is very very fragile which I understand

My wife ordered the VF Tuner for me for Father's Day, in fact, BEFORE Father's Day. Still hasn't arrived. Additionally, I sent an email on May 1st asking about 92 octane fuel as the greater PDX area doesn't have 91 or 93. No reply to my query.

Perhaps one of my fellow GX owners also live in an area with 92 octane fuel, what did you do? Can a flash be written for 92 octane as well?

I flashed the 91 octane tune, as that is what is recommended if you don't have 93 available.

This has been asked before. They're likely going to tell you to run the 91 tune.

we are still trying to source new connectors. Our original source of these connectors is MIA. Toyota won't sell more than 1 at a time, from japan...

I didn't do the trans TSB either (I had the earlier VFtune TCM tune and never had any issues) and am just as happy with the new TCM tune.

My cable was broken either before it got to me or after I plugged it in the first time. I took a look inside and realized that it's only two wires and re-soldering it would be fairly easy. I re-soldered it and added extra heat shrink & glue to strengthen it and it worked for the original tune and then again for the newest one. I removed mine after the first tune so any dealer tech wouldn't find any evidence.

can you explain how these would interact with the mode dial "eco/normal/sport/+", the tow button and the mts/offroad buttons?
would the tow button do anything? why use the cruise control and not the standard maps for these modes?

What changes can be expected between maps 2, 3, and 4 that can’t be accomplished by the stock gx setting optional?

The cruise control buttons are often used to swap between tunes using a specific button sequence

@VF Tuner If possible, it'd be cool to have this tied to the drive modes.

Normal, Sport, Sport+, Custom: Map 1: 91/93+ octane Map (using our upcoming octane adaptation)
Tow Haul Button: Map 2: Tow Haul Map
Locker engagement: Map 3: Offroad
Eco: Map 4: MPG

Just a couple of considerations. The benefit to the Cruise Control button strategy is cool in that it allows you to run the stock or VF maps.

Tying to the drive modes is a more seamless integration. Less work with the end user. It just "works".

They have pin specific bridging inside with metal.
instead we are now trying to find a different access point instead of using that connector.

@VF Tuner Is there an ETA or an interim/temporary solution for your customers that have had a pending order for months? I get it that there have been supply issues, but between China and US harness manufacturers, I can't believe there's no one that can reverse engineer a connection cable.
