2024 GX Engine Recall? (2 Viewers)

I saw the engine recall on my app a month ago. I kept driving it since I commute out of town for work. A week and a half ago I was driving to work on the highway and I get a warning on my steering column screen to pull over the engine was about to turn off. Mind you I am traveling at 80+ MPH. I saw the speed slow down drastically and was able to pull over before the engine locked up. This could have been so much worse than me being stranded on the side of the road with 18 wheelers flying past me for an hour. My car has 46K miles on it now. Lexus tow truck took it to the dealer. They had it for a couple days and then let me know my car is one that the engine needs to be replaced on. I have not been given any time frame as to when I will get my car back. I do have a loaner from the dealership currently.
sorry to hear that from yours, might as well be good to know the year of the vehicle. thanks to god nothing happened.

Do you remember the build date for your vehicle?
I do not , I purchased it used with only 8K miles on it. We kept asking ourselves why someone would wait so long for this vehicle and trade it off so quickly. They must have known all this was probably going to happen.

oh I know I am grateful I was able to pull over safely. My car is 24 I purchased it in Dec 2025

Thankfully you're ok and Lexus will take care of this. Look on the bright side, you'll now have a new engine and extended warranty. May of us with 24s keep on second guessing what will happen to our should there be an issue. My build date is April 12, one day after the recall date... I am personally not sure what would happen should I have an issue down the road. However, I have faith in Toyota to take care us.

I doubt lexus will forget about you. Fun fact here lexus/ toyota Gave me 10 years of warranty or 125,000 miles

FYI---I had posted this before and maybe "G" did not see it. A quote from the letter sent to me from Lexus. "interim Notice. We are currently preparing the remedy. We will notify you again when the remedy is available." My 24 OT+ was sold in April 2024. Due to the uncertainty of this engine reliability, I opted to buy a 26 OT+ and hopefully not have an issue with the engine. It is my opinion that Lexus will stand behind any engine problem. I just did not want to be on one of my long range trips in the boondocks and have this engine failure.
I don't know they just told me I have to have a new engine put in

What state are you in and how did they sell you a car with an open engine recall? If you had the recall on yours it was an early 2024 model and the dealer should not have sold it to you in December 2025. I’d look at used lemon law statutes in your state and get your money back.

I am in texas. Purchased my car Dec 24

Thanks for the heads up. Unfortunate, but I get a brand new engine if my car is affected. At least that’s the way I’ll look at it to spin it in a positive way.
Well sorry to say my 2024 OT delivered in May 2024 and built March 2024 got the recall notice, och! But the engine sounds great runs smooth great power in the 45 to 80 mph band. It has 20k on it, been off road and thru 3ft rivers just a lot of fun. Baby had her main display go out and a two day service runs great now. Well first year of new design I guess I should expect some growing pain but the motor was a issue on the Tacoma an LS600 and I knew about it and thought It would be fixed, lexus was tooooo quiet and they KNEW IT. The big question was it debris OR IS IT A DESGIN FLAW. ENGINEERS HAVE BEEN SEEING QUIET PART CHANGES IN THE MOTOR!! SO IT MIGHT NOT BE ONLY THE DEBRIS. LIKE YOU SSAID I GET A NEW ENGINE AND MORE WARRANTY, THE BRIGHT SIDE. STILL LOVE THE TRUCK HANGING IN.

I had a positive attitude in the beginning when I found out my car will need a new engine. I am now being told by the dealership they are waiting on Lexus about sending the new motor :( They have had my car going on 1 Month but they are still waiting. I am so upset. I I feel @ this point that I will get rid of it when and if they repair it and although I have been a loyal Lexus owner for 15+ years, I am seriously thinking of changing to another make.

That sucks! Do they have to hold on to your car while they’re waiting for the new engine? Did they give you a loaner at least?

Did your engine fail or you are letting them hold it til the new engine is in and recall fixed?

Sorry to hear this my friend, best option would be the Armada Pro-4x.

Not great at all and I’d be upset too. Hopefully they are giving you a loaner? I would think they want this to go smoothly for you and want to fix it right the first time so maybe it’s just that they don’t have all the pieces in place to do that. Hopefully it would end up working out alright.
