2024 GX Engine Recall? (2 Viewers)

Sorry to hear this my friend, be
I had a positive attitude in the beginning when I found out my car will need a new engine. I am now being told by the dealership they are waiting on Lexus about sending the new motor :( They have had my car going on 1 Month but they are still waiting. I am so upset. I I feel @ this point that I will get rid of it when and if they repair it and although I have been a loyal Lexus owner for 15+ years, I am seriously thinking of changing to another make.

st option would be the Armada Pro-4x.

Sorry to hear. If you like the GX, one option to maybe consider is seeing if Lexus will work with the dealer to let you trade for a brand new one.

And I very briefly looked at the Armada and while it actually seems pretty capable, I can't get past paying that much for a Nissan combined with knowing the value is going to drop like a rock.

Agreed. I kind of like the Armada, but it's equally tough springing for a vehicle where the company may not even exist in the US in the next decade.

Besides looking at a newer GX, if available at all, I would probably just get a previous gen Landcruiser or LX570 if this were to happen to me. I don't really find anything that appealing these days when it comes to the body on frame SUVs on the new market.

That sucks! Do they have to hold on to your car while they’re waiting for the new engine? Did they give you a loaner at least?
Yes it is @ the dealership , it's not operable :( I do have a loaner. I work out of town and NEED a vehicle to commute few days a week.

Not great at all and I’d be upset too. Hopefully they are giving you a loaner? I would think they want this to go smoothly for you and want to fix it right the first time so maybe it’s just that they don’t have all the pieces in place to do that. Hopefully it would end up working out alright.
Yes I am hoping it works out because I do LOVE my car. Yes I have a loaner and from what I'm being told I will have one till my car is ready.

I was looking @ Infiniti QX80
We were looking at the QX80 as well. Great vehicle. I’d do that over the Nissan because the dealership experience should be much better. The local Infiniti dealer was taking $12K off msrp right out of the gate so you should be able to get a good deal. The down side is that depreciation is pretty bad.

They look pretty nice. I am just leery of not knowing the quality of these vehicles. Up to this point I have never had an issue with any of my Lexus vehicles.

To be completely fair. The Nissan Patrol is what The Land Cruiser represents to toyota, likewise the Lx to lexus is the Qx80 to infiniti.
The Infiniti is built in Japan, so quality control is a lot higher than others.
The 3.5 TT V6 from nissan is miles better than the 3.4 TT V6 from lexus.
The ride quality with air suspension and adaptive shocks is miles better.
The space is a lot better.
I know many here buy cars based on depreciation, but you will loose money no matter what. The idea is to enjoy that new asset and it is a very good one.
I said Armada, because its the same vehicle, just a few less luxury touches.

With all due respect, you are very wrong in your analysis of quality comparisons!
I used to be an automotive technician with Infinity back in the mid 2000s when Nissan quality was much better and reliable. There is absolutely no fair way to compare Toyota to Nissan across the board.
Yes, Nissan has some decent models but nothing in terms of overall reliability or robustness they had in their earlier years.
While we see some issues with Toyota these days as well, Toyota has lived up and corrected the vast majority and stands by their brand name like no other...
Nissan is more innovative and typically has more bells & whistles for the money.
This is simply because they have to think outside the box but, they fail to regain traction with consumers that are still turning away.

You had some valid points, definitely gives me something to think about before making the change. Thank you !

I just didn't understand this. All I said is that the Patrol and the Qx80 are the respective models of land cruiser and lx600. I might be very well wrong in terms of quality .. i have never owned a nissan.

Does anyone know the specifics on lemon laws in Texas? I am wondering how long the dealership can keep my car before I can file, considering it failed on me while I was driving it, I may already qualify lol

Lemon laws won’t help you here because they have a fix. It sucks but that’s how it works :/

The build quality of the QX80 is much better than other Nissan/Infiniti products. Having said that, it’s not at Lexus levels nor is the dealership.
