Anyone noticed the soft pads in the bottom of the airbox? Like a teabag! Never seen that before.

It’s a carbon filter. Supposedly soaks up any fuel fumes for emissions.

UPDATE: I ordered two of these $20 washable, no-oil filters that fit perfectly and snugly despite the description not mentioning GX550

So far, I haven't noticed any negative effects or significant improvements. Since I frequent a lot of very dusty places, the main reason I chose these was for their washability and price - beats aFe and K&N.
