GX550 Overtrail Vibration

Thank you everyone for your excellent reports and efforts to diagnose this situation which seems quite prevalent on at least the OT variants.

Crazy that Lexus hasn’t done more to figure it out- that we know of. I mean, put a couple of highly experienced suspension, drivetrain techs in the field and get this solved. Cant cost much to do that. Then go devise a fix for affected vehicles.

Last model of the 2024, Lux +, first moment I drove it, I felt like I was driving over a road with constant ripples in it. Multi-sets of tires, still same. This is a long thread..I read quite a bit. Has anyone found a resolution yet? Just at 1,000 miles. TIA.

Good description, your experience matches mine in the OT. Thank you for posting.

Last week, I discovered that my OT+ driveshaft was poorly (or not at all) lubricated. Less than 5k miles on the truck. I was experiencing a pop/click noise when driving very slow and turning. We thought it was a suspension component (aftermarket so wouldn't have been surprised), but then we added grease to the fitting, and now the pop is gone, but damn, what the hell? Mine is at the dealer as we speak to flash the transmission computer and have them road force balance my tires, and inspect the driveshaft, among other issues I am having. They claim that the transmission clunk is normal, and flashing the computer is only a temporary fix, but did agree to do it. Now it has me wondering if the vibration is related to the drivetrain. I still need to fix my alignment and dealer can't do that since aftermarket. But after that, I will be almost at a point where just about everything has been done other than completely removing the sway bars and eKDSS. I am willing to live with the rough ride for a while, but may end up trading it in at some point. Agree with others here that it is totally ridiculous that Lexus is acting like this isn't an issue worth investigating further.

hey all! new member - new 2025 Lux+ owner with 70 miles on odometer, bone stock from factory. I spent an hour or so last night reading all 34 pages of this thread. Have similar "washboard" vibration, although only very slight (almost makes me question whether its really there or not, but wife noticed it too), from 10-35MPH. no other symptoms. Called dealer this AM and formally started the process. Really like this truck - massaging seats - whats not to like!?!!!
And respectfully but wholeheartedly disagree with some of the views that "this is a body on frame truck, not a cushy sedan". Been wrenching cars & trucks for decades and a Lexus, even a Lexus truck, should not have this vibration. Will do some more seat of pants testing and report any additional symptoms / notes.
off to golf for now (priorities, right??!!)

Can you record some of these vibrations? I have lux+ and it’s “rough” but I have zero vibrations if I am on the highway.

Interesting that there is now a report of a 2025 exhibiting vibration issues. Luckily for me the washboard effect is only present when I'm actually driving on washboard roads. I'm really wondering what is causing the vibration.

So, I didn't have any issues with the vehicle for the first 1,000 miles of driving on good highways. However, this weekend, I was driving on a stretch of highway where the washboard like effect was pronounced.

I don't experience the same effect in either my Land Cruiser 250, or the LX 600. The only difference is the EKDSS.

What’s your tire pressure? Mine was set to 40psi when I picked it up 🥴

I just took delivery of 2025 OT - I has the washboard vibration issue.
I remember reading about this issue a year ago, but thought surly it would have been resolved by now.
Talking with dealer about it on Monday.
First things first. What is your tire pressure set at? Mine was at 40psi all around when I picked up my OT. Secondly, tires are probably a bit flat from sitting on boats/at port etc so give it some time to smooth out. Thirdly, request a Road Force Balance from dealership. Best of luck!

I picked up my '25 OT+ on Friday. Put 300+ miles on it already, and fortunately it doesn't have a trace of vibration or rough ride. Also virtually zero hood flutter or any of the other commonly discussed issues.

The vibration has always been an overtrail issue. If you are having it with different models you probably have an issue with a tire being out of ballance. I have a 2024 overtrail that was a little rough after I put bigger tires on it, had them road force ballanced and they corrected it.

Has to be a Adaptive Variable Suspension issue at this point as it only seems to affect certain 24-25’ Lux+ / OT / OT+ trims
